Notice on the adjustments of testing requirements for all China-bound passengers (Updated June 29, 2022)

2022-06-30

Passengers who travel on and after June 30, 2022 are kindly required to read and follow the updated instructions to apply heath code below.

1.Testing requirements

All China-bound passengers must take 2 nucleic acid tests at two different legal institutes respectively within 48 hours before boarding to the transit country. The 2nd test should be within 24 hours before boarding. Upon receiving the reports, passengers can apply for health code at https://hrhk.cs.mfa.gov.cn/H5/.

(1)After the 1st nucleic acid test before boarding, passengers should upload the negative test report, passport, Chinese visa or resident permit, itinerary, vaccination certificate(if any) and Letter of Commitment on COVID-19 Vaccination. After examining and verifying, the Chinese Embassy in Malawi will issue a red health code with the remarks “Pre-application has been approved, please upload the 2nd test report before boarding ”.

(2)On the departure day, passengers should upload the 2nd negative nucleic acid test report before boarding. After examining and verifying, the Chinese Embassy in Malawi will issue a green health code. Passengers who have obtained the green health code will then be eligible to board.

The Chinese Embassy in Malawi only recognizes the nucleic acid test reports with TT code. Any false declaration, falsification of test results or alteration of test reports will result in rejection of health code application and being declined of boarding or be held liable for the offense.

2.About transit

The routes to China and number of transits will not be required. Passengers should apply for health code from the Chinese Embassies/Consulates in BOTH Malawi and transit country. The green health code issued by the Chinese Embassy in Malawi is only for flight to transit country. Passengers are advised to check the testing requirements of the Chinese Embassies/Consulates in transit country.

3.Passengers with infection history

If you were diagnosed with COVID-19 or tested positive for nucleic acid or antibody (not due to vaccination), you are considered as having an infection history. After the confirmation of recovery for more than 14 days, you can apply for a health code following this notice to perform corresponding tests before boarding. The confirmed recovery process is as follows:

- Take two nucleic acid tests with a sampling interval of over 24 hours at the designated facilities, and both tests return negative results.

- Send the test reports to consulatemlw@gmail.com for approval. The email should be sent within 3 days after the first sample collection.

4.Close contacts/showing suspected symptoms

Close contacts or passengers showing suspected symptoms are expected to monitor your health conditions for at least 5 days, then follow this notice to perform corresponding tests before boarding.

5. Vaccinated passengers

Vaccinated passengers should upload the Vaccination Certificate together with the Letter of Commitment on COVID-19 Vaccination (see below) for the health code application.
